Papa Jochem in Korea
Most of these are of my dad and his wife, Sandra when they came to visit South Korea. Staying only a week, they didn’t have a lot of time to travel to Busan or anyplace too far from Seoul. Staying in Myeongdong, they were pretty close to Insadong where they spent a lot of time.
For some reason I had thought my parents had learned to use chopsticks years ago only to find out that feeding them in any Korean restaurant was more than a chore. Sadly, I don’t have any pictures of this thinking it too cruel to photograph their frustrated faces and defeat. Most meals ended with them using a spoon to eat whatever they could.
It was really great to see them for a while and even though I had to work, I spent most mornings with them exploring the various nooks and crannies of Insadong and my neighborhood in Gyeyang as well. To think four more months from today or tomorrow, not sure really, and I’ll be out of Korea. Time really is flying now.
